Third-cycle studies

Third-cycle (doctoral) studies are avaible in the following disciplines:

  • Construction and Maintenance of Machinery,
  • Mechanics,
  • Biocybernetics,
  • Biomedical Engineering.

The participants of the programme may be holders of the professional title of a Master of Engineering or master’s degree holders. Apart from regular didactic classes, doctoral students conduct research regarding the selected subject and in result are obliged to write and defend their doctoral dissertation.

The participants of doctoral programmes cooperate with experienced scientific staff and have state-of-the-art research and measurement equipment at their disposal. The academic staff of 34 professors and doctor of science degree holders guarantee thorough preparation of doctoral students for scientific work. Modern scientific apparatuses (microscopes, numerically controlled machine tools, coordinate measuring machines, universal testing machines, heat transfer stands, modem control systems etc.) help conduct research at the highest scientific level.

During a four-year study doctoral students acquire advanced knowledge of analytical, numerical and experimental methods used in mechanics as well as in the construction and operation of machines as well as in biocybernetics and biomedical engineering. They conduct didactic classes, scientific research, participate in scientific seminars and conferences, prepare papers, articles and a doctoral dissertation under the supervision of a thesis advisor.

The participants of doctoral programmes are eligible to apply for material support in the form of: a means-tested bursary, means-tested bursary rise, special grant for disabled students, scholarshlp for the best doctoral students, doctoral scholarship and doctoral scholarship rise.
